How Barter Works

Each member earns the retail value of their product/service in "trade dollars." One trade dollar being equal to one U.S. dollar. As trade dollars accumulate in the account, members are then able to spend their trade dollars with any member for any product or service. This eliminates the limited one-on-one or direct trading dilemmas:

  • Both parties must have what the other wants
  • Lack of new contacts in which to barter
  • Matching monetary values of products/services traded
  • Matching time frames

Trade dollars earned continue to accumulate in the account for members to spend as needed. Trade Winds Exchange also offers a line of credit to all members in good standing.

Increase your cash flow by purchasing many of your overhead costs in barter...

  • Many products and services are now offered on the barter circuit. Printing, advertising, office products and payroll/accounting services are all examples of such.

Expand your customer base and patronize other Trade Winds Exchange clients...

  • Our clients know the value of being involved in a cash-less network, patronizing our members over the competition.
  • Trade Winds Exchange members also refer cash business to other members!

Turn your trade dollars into cash...

  • We believe that every Trade Winds Exchange member regularly pays cash for something that could be purchased on trade, which can then be resold for cash.
  • For example, a parking garage joins with the car wash next door.  Parking customers find it convenient to drop their cars in the morning and leave with a clean car in the evening!  The parking garage pays for the labor in trade, and turns around and charges cash to its customers.
  • Trade Winds Exchange believes in creative trading to help our clients to offer new services while generating new sources of cash flow, funded completely on barter.

Show your gratitude through barter to your customers and employees...

  • Barter is an excellent tool to utilize to purchase gift certificates to restaurants, retail shops or to purchase gift baskets or even hams and turkeys during the holidays.
  • Positive reinforcement to your customers and staff can go a long way, and even farther on barter instead of cash!

Barter outside current territories...

  • Trade exchanges participate in worldwide reciprocal trade relationships with other exchanges offering a multitude of additional barter opportunities across the nation.
  • Trade Winds Exchange helps businesses to locate what they seek and sell their products and services nationally through its affiliations.

Personal use...

  • Many of our clients utilize barter for household needs. (Please consult your CPA on the correct way to report personal uses.)
